More Support for English-speaking Newcomers
March 30, 2022 | Québec City
What I feel is special about the Québec City region as a Québecer is that it is a very beautiful place with loads of tourist attractions and places to visit. The community here is not very diverse but a lot more than you would assume, as diversity is something that is not showcased and appreciated in the community compared to other places in Québec such as Montréal.
Since English is not widely spoken here compared to Montréal, there is a small anglophone community in Québec City and only one English CEGEP, which I attend. But what I am grateful for is how helpful the English community is and how there still are some facilities for English-speakers. As a newcomer myself I just wish there was more support for English-speaking newcomers in the community. Since English-speaking youths are a minority group and part of the change in the Québec City community they also have struggles and I am glad we have organizations such as Y4Y to help them feel included.
