Financial Literacy

“Financial Literacy” is delivered by Brian Smith and provided by Y4Y Québec as part of the Welcome to the City workshop series. This workshop covers topics such as making a budget, living within your means, and responsible spending. Participants can expect a group style conversation where their individual questions can be answered as well as a few hypothetical situations and tools to help maintain a budget moving forward.

Living with Roommates

“Living with Roommates: The Do’s and Don’ts of Shared Living” is delivered by David Robinson and provided by Y4Y Québec as part of the Welcome to the City workshop series. This workshop will involve a group discussion about the obstacles and benefits of living with other people. David will also guide participants through the framework of how to have uncomfortable conversations with friends and roommates, how to set firm but fair boundaries, and play out what some of these difficult conversations might look like.

Nutrition on a Budget

Groceries are expensive, but this workshop is free!

“Nutrition on a Budget” is delivered by Olivia Carone and provided by Y4Y Québec as part of the Welcome to the City workshop series.

Olivia is a registered dietician and alumni from Champlain College St Lambert. Her workshop will cover healthy eating habits and how to maintain good nutrition while on a budget. She will cover skills such as meal planning, knowledge about nutritious eating, and have the participants engage with a more hands-on component by actually cooking a quick, healthy, and cheap dish all-together.

Employment 101

“Employment 101: Pay, Time Off, and Harassment” is delivered by Educaloi and provided by Y4Y Québec as part of the Welcome to the City workshop series. This workshop will be facilitated by a lawyer and will cover your rights and responsibility as an employee in Québec. 

You will learn about your legal rights when it comes to getting paid, taking time off, and dealing with harassment. Get ready to participate in open discussion periods, quiz questions, and a role-playing activity!
